We're adding extra lanes to the Monash Freeway between Warrigal and Cardinia Roads to make your journey quicker, easier and safer.
Stage 2 update
We’re set to start major construction on the second stage of the Monash Freeway upgrade, continuing the transformation of this vital freeway.
Over the past few weeks, we have been conducting essential early work activities to prepare the freeway for construction. This has included surveying the area, locating underground assets and completing geotechnical investigations.
With these works continuing throughout March 2020, we’re getting ready to hit the ground running and start major construction.
What we’ll be doing
In the coming weeks, we’ll be moving traffic to the shoulder of the freeway between Warrigal Road and Eastlink to allow us to install barriers along the centre median.
Once the barriers are in place, we’ll get to work constructing the new lanes, minimising disruption and keeping traffic moving.
We’ll also be starting temporary line marking to prepare for this traffic switch in the coming weeks.
What this means for you
As we undertake this important work, drivers will experience traffic changes and speed reductions to ensure that we can complete these works safely.
Signs will be in place on the freeway to advise of the changed traffic conditions.
