The level crossing near Merinda Park Station has gone and we’ve added extra lanes and traffic lights on Thompsons Road to improve safety and travel times.
We’ve finished spreading 16,000 cubic metres of recycled timber mulch and planting 449,000 new plants to landscape along the new Thompsons Road, improving and maintaining the flora, fauna and ecosystems.
Frankston-Dandenong Road roundabout upgrade works kick start
Works to protect important underground utility services started. For these works to happen, the lanes on and approaching the roundabout have been reduced from three to two lanes.
Thompsons Road/Frankston-Dandenong Road temporary traffic lights open
We’ll still need a few months to finish up all the works around this area before the new intersection can be fully operational.
We’ll finish and open the permanent Thompsons Road/Frankston-Dandenong Road traffic lights to provide the full benefits at this intersection.
At this time, we’ll also finish and open the full new shared walking and cycling paths on the 10.7km stretch of newly duplicated Thompsons Road, between Frankston-Dandenong Road and Berwick-Cranbourne Road. These shared use paths will provide better access to public facilities and transport hubs for the community across Carrum Downs, Cranbourne, Lyndhurst and Sandhurst.
