New lanes open on Thompsons Road

11 October, 2018Thompsons Road Upgrade

The first of two bridges on Thompsons Road is now open, removing the level crossing at Merinda Park train station.

We’re now working on the second bridge. Once complete, there will be two separate three-lane bridges on Thompsons Road.

Traffic has been switched onto the new lanes between Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road and Berwick-Cranbourne Road, and also between Dandenong-Frankston Road and Lyndhurst Boulevard.

Additionally, new traffic lights have been switched on at the intersection of Western Port Highway and Thompsons Road, where the existing roundabout is being replaced by signals.

As well as widening the road and adding extra lanes, new lights, safety barriers and a shared walking and cycling path are being installed along Thompsons Road.
