Yan Yean Road Upgrade, August construction update

1 August, 2018Yan Yean Road Upgrade

Heritage church relocation

On 14 August, we’ll move the former Uniting Heritage Church building to its new home in Plenty Park. We’ll start preparing the building on 6 August for the move.

To move the building safely along Yan Yean Road, we’ll lift it up using jacks and move it onto small platforms with wheels. Some trees will need to be pruned along the way to make room for the church.

On 14 August, Yan Yean Road between River Avenue and Memorial Drive will be closed for up to 4 hours. You will not be able to enter Yan Yean Road from Diamond Creek Road and Kurrak Road during the closure. Access to your property will be maintained and you’ll receive a separate notification about the road closure. Detour routes and traffic management will be in place.

Retaining walls

In August, you’ll start to see the new retaining walls taking shape in Zone 4 and Zone 10.

Driveway access tracks

At times, we’ll build temporary access tracks along Yan Yean Road. These tracks maintain access to your driveway, while we upgrade the road in front of your property. We’ll contact you directly if we need to build a temporary access track for your property.

Tree and vegetation removal

To prepare the ground for the new road, we need to clear trees and vegetation. Bulk tree clearing is nearly complete and should be finished by the end of the month.

Some tree and vegetation removal will continue as we relocate utility services.

We have flora and fauna management plans in place to make sure we do this carefully and thoughtfully.

Bulk Earthworks

During August, we’ll continue earthworks in Zones 1-10. We’ll excavate and move soil, then level the ground with large roller machines.

Use the map below to find the location of the Zones.
