Colac kids monster profiler experience
Twenty lucky Colac East Primary Grade 5/6’s got a once in a lifetime experience with a monster profiler, a piece of machinery helping to build the new road surface on Princes Highway West.
The profiler got its monster title by being the largest profiler in Australia.
With its razor-sharp teeth, the profiler pulls up the old road and then spits out the old bitumen, clearing the path for the new road to be built.
The profiler is so efficient that it can fill a 10m3 tipper truck in about 1 minute.
To help decide who could go on the excursion, Colac East Primary held a video competition amongst all classes.
The Grade 5/6 students made the winning video and were incredibly excited to learn from onsite crew, including Molly, who is also the first female profiler driver.
The Princes Highway West project is adding a total of 35 km of new lanes from Winchelsea to Colac.
