Major asphalting works underway

Back to Newsfeed

Did you know, the section of the Monash Freeway between Warrigal Road and EastLink used to be the Mulgrave Freeway?

It was built in the 1970s and we’re in the process of giving the sub-surface a makeover.

Asphalting works are currently underway, strengthening this section of the freeway ahead of full resurfacing works taking place in 2022 before we open your new lanes.

From January to April and during the warmer months later this year, there will be lane closures and delays in the evening and overnight to enable these critical works.

In total 73,000 tonne of new asphalt will be placed in this section of the Monash Freeway, providing smoother journeys for 470,000 vehicles every day.

Asphalting works will commence between Clyde Road and Cardinia Road later in 2021.

Thank you for your patience while we upgrade your Monash Freeway.
