New gantries for the Monash Freeway
If you use the Monash Freeway you will have noticed new gantries appearing overnight in recent weeks.
As the city sleeps, eleven new gantries measuring up to 55 metres in length and weighing up to 50 tonnes, are being installed during overnight works between South Gippsland Freeway and Princes Highway.
These gantries feature electronic signs, and once activated will form part of a state of the art freeway management system. This will allow better lane management during incidents to keep traffic flowing.
These works are part of the second stage of the Monash Freeway Upgrade which will make journeys quicker, easier and safer for the 470,000 drivers using the freeway every day.
For more information see the Monash Freeway Upgrade project page.
