A huge new mural, painted by local and Wurundjeri artists, has been unveiled along the Chandler Highway bridge underpass, as the finishing touches continue on this important upgrade.
The continuous 60-metre-long artwork depicting the story of how the Yarra River was formed (as told by Barak), featuring local flora and fauna now adorns the Chandler Highway bridge underpass.
The mural was designed and painted by Ash Firebrace and Tom Civil and celebrates the cultural heritage of the area.
The new underpass which features the artwork, links the Main Yarra Trail from east to west on the Eastern Freeway (south) side of the Yarra River. It connects to a new ramp which replaces 70 steps, ensuring safer access for cyclists.
