To provide more opportunities across the construction industry, the third stage of the Princes Highway East Upgrade, will be delivered concurrently through a trio of construction partners including:

  • Laing O’Rourke
  • Whelans Group Investments
  • BildGroup.

With 31 kilometres of the Princes Highway East project already completed, the remaining three sections at Flynn, Kilmany and Kilmany East will receive an extra 12km of lanes in each direction, providing a consistent two-lane highway between Traralgon and Sale.

BildGroup (Flynn section) and Whelans Group Investments (Kilmany East section) were selected for their local knowledge and construction experience, while Laing O’Rourke (Kilmany) have been earmarked to deliver the complex rail component, due to their capabilities with rail interface.

The contractors were each chosen for their demonstrated and comprehensive approach to utilising local expertise and experience.

The $253 million third stage of the Princes Highway East upgrade will result in better connectivity, safer roads and hundreds of employment opportunities.

Once complete, the project improvements will create a safer journey to around 15,000 motorists who use the road each day travelling between Traralgon and Sale.

The upgrade, has been jointly funded by the Victorian and Commonwealth Governments and is anticipated to be complete by mid-2024.
