Road and rail disruptions in the north east

Works are underway in the north east as part of Victoria's Big Build.

The Fitzsimons Lane Upgrade will improve safety and efficiency for motorists and pedestrians in Melbourne’s north, by adding traffic lights to congested intersections, and adding walking and cycling connections to the local area.

Other works are being completed as part of the North East Link Project and the Level Crossing Removal Project’s Hurstbridge Line Duplication.

Fitzsimons Lane Upgrade road disruptions

Lane closures at Leane Drive and Main Road intersection until late September. Monday to Saturday from 7am to 5pm and occasional nights from 8pm and 6am.

Off peak lane closures at Fitzsimons Lane and Main Road intersection until late November from 9am to 3:30pm and 7pm to 6am.

Hurstbridge Line Duplication disruptions

Rail

Buses replace trains on the Hurstbridge line between Macleod and Hurstbridge from 8:10pm Monday 30 August to 3:10am Saturday 4 September.

Road

Railway Road will be closed again near the intersection with Para Road from 29 August to mid September 2021.

Detours will be in place for vehicle users as well as Plenty River Trail users during this time.

North East Link Project road disruptions

Overnight lane closures and reduced speed limits on Greensborough Road between Watsonia and Lower Plenty Road.
