Bypassing Shepparton includes three projects which will improve the amenity of the Shepparton CBD by reducing the amount of trucks travelling through the centre of town.

The Victorian Government has committed planning funding towards the Bypassing Shepparton projects, which includes Shepparton Bypass Stage 1, Shepparton Alternate Route and upgrades to Ford and Wanganui roads. The location of each project is shown in the map below.

We're responsible for the planning of all three projects.

Current activities

We’re completing various technical studies to understand the impacts and benefits of all three projects.

We’ll also continue working with Regional Roads Victoria and the Yorta Yorta Nation Aboriginal Corporation to carry out cultural heritage surveys for the Shepparton Bypass Stage 1 and Ford and Wanganui roads.

These studies will inform both the concept designs and business case.

Community engagement

Regional Roads Victoria carried out consultation with the community for Shepparton Bypass Stage 1 in 2018. We’ll use this feedback in the planning for this project and carry out further consultation for all three projects as we progress.

Project Liaison Group

We'll continue meeting with the established Project Liaison Group (PLG) during the planning for the Bypassing Shepparton projects.

The group includes representatives from Council, relevant Victorian Government agencies, key environment and community groups and local landowners.

The PLG will remain an effective information-sharing forum and provide advice on the project and its environmental management.
