We’re adding extra lanes on Craigieburn Road between Hume Highway and Mickleham Road as well as upgrading intersections and building better walking, cycling and public transport connections.
The Craigieburn Road Upgrade is another step closer, with Fulton Hogan being awarded the contract to build the project.
In January 2021, we started site investigations to locate underground utility services and assessing road and ground conditions.
Our investigations work will continue until late July 2021 to determine the final project design. Major construction on Craigieburn Road is expected to take place in the third quarter of 2021.
Craigieburn Road night works
To minimise traffic impacts, we’ll work at night between 8pm to 5am at four intersections along Craigieburn Road:
- Hume Highway - Sunday 20 June to Friday 25 June
- Hanson Road - Tuesday 22 June to Thursday 24 June
- Mickleham Road - Sunday 27 June to Tuesday 29 June
- Aitken Boulevard - Wednesday 30 June to Friday 2 July.
Our roadside electronic message boards will show any changes to traffic conditions. Day works will continue.
What can you expect?
To keep our workers and community safe we may need to close lanes and reduce speed limits. Please follow the direction of signs and traffic controllers.
You may experience some noise and vibration from moving vehicles, machinery, rock breaking, reversing beepers or generators used to power equipment.
We’ll make every effort to minimise any impacts on local residents during these works by:
- scheduling noisy activities in day-time construction hours
- providing local residents and businesses with advance notice about any out-of-hours works
- fitting machinery with engine noise reduction equipment
- monitoring noise in areas adjacent to residential and commercial properties.
Most works will happen from Monday to Friday between 7am and 6pm, and on Saturdays between 7am and 1pm. Sometimes we may need to work at night or on weekends, when there’s less traffic on the roads.
If nightworks are required, we’ll provide advance notice to residents and businesses who may be affected.
Health and safety
Work will be conducted safely and in accordance with COVID-19 protocols. For more information and advice about the coronavirus (COVID-19), please visit coronavirus.vic.gov.au.
