We’re planning for the Geelong Ring Road Extension (Bellarine Link) which will provide a new east-west connection to get you where you need to go sooner and safer.

The Victorian Government committed $4 million in the 2016-17 budget for the planning of the proposed Bellarine Link.

The project is the fifth and final section of the Geelong Ring Road, which will extend the Geelong Ring Road from Baanip Boulevard to Portarlington Road.

Current status

The Geelong Ring Road Extension (Bellarine Link) planning project was transferred from Regional Road Victoria to Major Road Projects Victoria in early 2019 to continue planning and investigations. Our focus is to ensure the project provides the best outcomes for the community and the environment.

We are currently reviewing the technical studies and designs developed by Regional Roads Victoria and will provide the community with an update once we complete our investigations.

Our review and investigations will focus on the preferred alignment chosen by Regional Road Victoria in late 2017.

We will make every effort during our investigations to ensure our design minimises impacts on private land and sensitive environmental areas.

At this stage, we will not continue to investigate the Boundary Road Link as part of this project.

We’ll keep the community updated as we progress.

The proposed Bellarine Link aims to improve safety, reduce congestion, accommodate future urban growth in the area and improve travel times on the Geelong road network.
