The Victorian and Australian Governments are progressing planning for improvements to the Calder Freeway transport corridor. This includes investigating the construction of a new freeway interchange at Calder Park Drive to improve access on and off the Calder Freeway.
A joint commitment by the Victorian and Australian Governments of $100 million in the recent 2021/22 budgets is supporting the planning and development of improvements to the Calder Freeway transport corridor.
This involves planning for:
- the construction of a new freeway interchange at Calder Park Drive over the Calder Freeway in Calder Park, including relocating existing entrance points in the area
- improvements to the local road network to improve traffic flow and safety in the area.
This planning work supports targeted upgrades on the Calder Freeway between Gap Road in Sunbury and the M80 Ring Road, which are being investigated by the Department of Transport.
We’re undertaking planning and development work to inform the Calder Park Drive Interchange. This includes traffic modelling, planning studies and environmental investigations.
This development work will allow us to understand environmental and social impacts, develop design options and confirm scope and costs of different options.
Timelines and milestones will be determined through this planning work and a Business Case is being developed for future funding consideration.
