We’re adding an extra lane in each direction between Oliphant Way and Frankston-Dandenong Road, upgrading intersections, building a new bridge over Peninsula Link and installing safety barriers.
Since 2018, we've been engaging with local residents and businesses to understand local traffic behaviours.
As a result of feedback, the design now includes two additional right turns from Lathams Road to Brett Drive and Tova Drive. These right turns will provide safe, easy access from Lathams Road to around 70 businesses on these side roads.
This and other project features can be viewed on the interactive map.
Additional parking added to design
A total of 35 parking spaces have been added to the Lathams Road Upgrade scope following consultation with the business community. The new spaces, including a disabled bay, are located in the service road between Colemans Road and Levida Drive and will offset the loss of informal parking on Lathams Road to accommodate the new lanes and improve safety.
The spaces have now been included in the final design and endorsed by Council.
A pedestrian refuge and designated crossing has also been included in the design to ensure that the employees and customers using these spaces have safe access to the businesses.
