We're upgrading the M80 Ring Road from Laverton North to Greensborough.
New Edgars Road on and off ramps
As part of the M80 Upgrade between Sydney Road and Edgars Road, we’re building new entry and exit ramps at Edgars Road.
We started building the ramps in August 2020 and installed beams for the new Greensborough-bound exit ramp and Altona-bound entry ramp in March and April 2021.
Once complete, the ramps will improve traffic flow for vehicles entering and exiting the M80 Ring Road and will be over six metres high so that trucks and other vehicles can safely pass underneath.
Changes to the way you drive on the M80
- All beams were manufactured locally at the Westkon precast concrete yard in Melton
- Each beam weighed between 58 and 80 tonnes and measured between 30 and 38 metres in length
- The beams were lifted into place by a 750-tonne crane assembled especially for the task
- 160 cubic metres of concrete was poured for the new Edgars Road elevated off ramp
