We're upgrading the M80 Ring Road from Laverton North to Greensborough.

Current traffic impacts

There’ll be ongoing lane, ramp, freeway closures and reduced speed limits until early 2023.

We’ve built dedicated access tracks and will be using these tracks to deliver and remove materials from our work sites.

The access tracks and temporary work sites will remain in place until the project is complete.

Ramp closures

There’ll be ongoing overnight ramp closures between Sydney Road and Edgars Road until early 2023 so we can safely complete works.

Keep up to date with these disruptions by subscribing for email updates at the bottom of this page.

Temporary closure of the M80 Trail

We’re undertaking a range of different construction activities alongside the M80 Trail between the Hume Freeway and Edgars Road.

To do this safely, we’ve closed a small section of the M80 Trail cycling and pedestrian path between Blaxland Avenue overpass and Edgars Road until mid-2021. There’ll be a detour with signage in place along Maritana Crescent and Alvarado Avenue to maintain connectivity for cyclists and pedestrians while we complete these important works.

While this detour is in place, you may notice increased activity along these streets. We encourage you to look out for cyclists and pedestrians when you’re in the area and take extra care when entering and exiting your vehicle if you’re parked on the street.

Managing traffic impacts

We're committed to keeping you moving during construction.

Most works will take place Monday to Saturday between 7am to 6pm, however we’ll need to do some works at night to minimise impacts on traffic and utility services.

Our temporary work sites and compound will be used as site offices and laydown areas for trucks and machinery. Construction vehicles and machinery will also be using access tracks to enter and exit our work sites along the freeway. The sites and access tracks will generally be used Monday to Saturday between 7am to 6pm, however our workers will have access 24 hours a day, seven days a week as required.

At times, our construction activities may generate;

  • medium to high levels of noise
  • dust and vibration.

We’re monitoring these impacts to ensure they’re kept to a minimum. There should be no impact to your power supply during the works, however your utility service provider will let you know in advance if this is likely to change.
