We're upgrading the M80 Ring Road from Laverton North to Greensborough.

Current traffic impacts

Traffic changes

There’ll be ongoing lane, ramp and freeway closures and reduced speed limits between Sydney Road and Edgars Road until early 2023. Most works will take place between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Saturday.

Some works will need to happen at night to minimise impacts on traffic and utility services. We’ll let you know in advance when this needs to happen.

Keep up to date with these disruptions by subscribing for email updates at the bottom of this page.

We’ve built dedicated access tracks to deliver and remove materials from our work sites. We'll remove the access tracks and temporary work sites when the project is complete.

Edgars Road Altona-bound entry ramp closure

The Edgars Road Altona-bound entry ramp is currently closed until early December so that we can complete works to build the new elevated ramp.

An Altona-bound lane on the M80 Ring Road between Edgars Road and the Hume Freeway will also be closed, so that we can undertake these works safely.

Detours will be in place via Mahoneys Road and Edgars Road. Please refer to the map below for recommended detour routes.

Sydney Road Greensborough-bound entry ramp closure

We’ll be closing the Sydney Road Greensborough-bound entry ramp from 9pm, Friday 22 October to 5am, 25 October so that we can install drainage near the Kathryn Street overpass.

Detours will be in place via Mahoneys Road and Edgars Road during this time. Please refer to the map for recommended detour routes.

M80 Trail

The M80 Trail is closed between the Blaxland Avenue overpass and the Edgars Road Greensborough-bound exit ramp until late-2021. Signed detours are in place along Maritana Crescent and Alvarado Avenue to maintain connectivity for cyclists and pedestrians.

Managing traffic impacts

We're committed to keeping you moving during construction.

Most works will take place Monday to Saturday between 7am to 6pm, however we’ll need to do some works at night to minimise impacts on traffic and utility services.

We'll use our temporary work sites and compound as site offices and laydown areas for trucks and machinery. Our construction vehicles and machinery will also use access tracks to enter and exit our work sites along the freeway. We'll generally use the sites and access tracks from 7am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday, however our workers will have access 24 hours a day, seven days a week as required.

At times, our construction activities may generate;

  • medium to high levels of noise
  • dust and vibration.

We’re monitoring these impacts to ensure they’re kept to a minimum. There should be no impact to your power supply during the works, however your utility service provider will let you know in advance if this is likely to change.
