We're adding extra lanes to the Monash Freeway between Warrigal and Cardinia Roads to make your journey quicker, easier and safer.
As part of the Monash Freeway Upgrade Stage 2, we’re changing the way you join the Monash Freeway and EastLink from Police Road and Jacksons Road in Mulgrave.
These changes will reduce traffic weaving, making your journey easier and safer.
Major construction is underway at Police and Jacksons roads, changing the access to the Monash Freeway and EastLink.
At Jacksons Road we’re connecting the existing outbound entry ramp directly to EastLink via a separate road.
At Police Road we’re reinstating the outbound entry ramp to the Monash Freeway.
This means that if you want to join EastLink, you’ll need to use the Jacksons Road outbound entry ramp. And if you want to join the Monash Freeway, you’ll need to use the Police Road outbound entry ramp.
Motorists travelling on the Monash Freeway who want to exit at EastLink will need to merge left before the Jacksons Road exit.
There’s no change to the way you access the Monash Freeway inbound.
This will remove the dangerous traffic weaving that occurs on the Monash Freeway between the Jacksons Road entry ramp and the exit ramp to EastLink.
Construction is underway and is expected to be complete in 2022.
We’ll connect the existing Jacksons Road outbound entry ramp directly to EastLink with a separate elevated road and reinstate the outbound entry ramp at Police Road direct to the Monash Freeway.
- install ramp metering signals at the new Police Road ramp, to control the flow of traffic onto the Monash Freeway
- plant 4200 new trees, shrubs, and vegetation between Jacksons Road and EastLink.
