We've upgraded 8 main roads in Melbourne's west and we're continuing to improve and maintain more than 260km of road from Footscray to Werribee.

What we're doing

We're nearing completion across our eight high priority road projects. We've also completed over half of our program to repave a further 37 roads.

Our works also include strengthening seven structures and upgrading 57 intersections, building 3 overpass bridges for the Federation Trail and building more than 50km of new walking and cycling paths.

See an overview of what's been achieved.

Cyclists and pedestrians

We've transformed the Federation Trail with three walking and cycling bridges over Leakes Road, Dohertys Road and Palmers Road/Sayers Road intersection. We've also built walking and cycling paths along the upgraded roads.

These bridges and paths make will make your walking and cycling journeys safer and more reliable and allow traffic to flow more freely along these roads.

Bridge upgrades

We've strengthened seven structures across the western road network since 2019. This includes five bridges, an overpass and a culvert (a structure that allows water to flow under a road or railway).

Stronger bridges mean more reliable journeys to carry more vehicles now and into the future.
