Planning is progressing for potential improvements to York Road to seek solutions to improve safety and create more reliable journeys for road users.
The Victorian Government has committed funding in the 2021-22 budget to start planning for potential improvements to York Road in Mount Evelyn. Our planning will seek solutions to improve safety and create more reliable journeys for road users travelling throughout Melbourne’s eastern suburbs and increase road network connectivity.
We’re investigating potential improvements to upgrade 3km of York Road between Swansea Road and Monbulk Road in Mount Evelyn.
Planning will include investigating road safety improvements along this section of York Road and intersection improvements at Swansea and Monbulk roads.
We’re undertaking planning and development work to inform potential improvements to York Road. This includes traffic modelling, planning studies and environmental investigations.
This work will allow us to understand environmental and social impacts, develop design options and confirm scope and costs of different options.
Timelines and milestones will be determined through this detailed planning work and a Business Case is being developed for future funding consideration.
